Texas Burrito Company to Host Official Grand Opening

Tucson, AZ — The tastiest new restaurant to open in Tucson, Texas Burrito Company, with recipes going back to 1836, is hosting a grand opening celebration on Thursday, May 5th. Located in the Tucson Marketplace, Texas Burrito Company opened in early March and is celebrating its official launch on the local dining scene with this Cinco de Mayo event. A ribbon cutting ceremony, beginning at 12 Noon, will kick off the celebration and will be followed by a meet and greet in the restaurant and adjacent patio from 12 Noon to 3 p.m. Music will be provided by an authentic Mexican Mariachi band.

Texas Burrito Company is a new concept by owner-operator BBQ Pitmaster Jason Scott, who brings a 9-year career in food services to the restaurant. Scott’s vision was to create an eatery of “Texican” food (a fusion of Real Texas BBQ with traditional Mexican flavors and ingredients) by leveraging his family recipes that date back to the early 1800s and have been handed down from generation to generation.

“I am beyond excited to celebrate the grand opening of Texas Burrito Company in my hometown of Tucson,” said Scott. “Like my mom, my sister and I were born here in Arizona and now I get to bring the Texican recipes from my dad’s side of the family to all my friends and neighbors. I really think they’re going to love it.”

Even though Scott was born in Arizona and calls Tucson his home, the Texas Burrito Company proprietor and his family are 7th Generation Texans. The family dates back to 1821 and Texas Ranger Captain Abner Kuykendall. The Captain’s family was part of the first 300 immigrant land settlers that were with Steven F. Austin’s settlement called “The Old 300.” Austin, known as the “Father of Texas,” was part of the Militia that helped form the “Republic Of Texas.” Many of Scott’s recipes originated in this era and today, the Texas Burrito Company uses these heritage recipes, as well as using a blend of post oak and mesquite wood to help recreate the original flavors the family produced nearly 200 years ago.

Their menu includes a wide variety of flavors covering breakfast, lunch and dinner with such fare as signature burritos, tacos, sandwiches, ribs, salads, baked potatoes loaded with meat, green chile mac & cheese, various salsas and sides, ice cream floats, fruit drinks, banana pudding, pecan pie squares, and family meals featuring whole chickens, beef brisket or pulled pork.

Texas Burrito Company is located in the Tucson Marketplace at the Bridges (I-10 and Kino Parkway), at 1570 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd., Suite 100 in Tucson and is open daily serving food in their dining room and their drive thru from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 days a week.
